Mothers

Having just celebrated Mother's Day I wanted to write a bit on what that means to me.
It has to begin with my Mother because after all without her, I wouldn't be a Mother

10 great things about my Mother
1. She has always been selfless and willing to sacrifice herself.
2. She is a hard worker and the most dedicated employee I know (Dean would come in 2nd).
3. She loves gardening and enjoys God's creation.
4. She doesn't speak ill of others.
5. She has never been consumed with herself.
6. When I ask her advice, she offers it unbiased.
7. She isn't overly dramatic and never pity's herself.
8. She is genuine, honest and trustworthy and won't compromise her values for public approval.
9. She loves my children with all her heart and honors how Dean and I parent them.
10. She has a desire to keep learning and growing.

and in speaking of Mothers, I cannot leave out my Mother-in-law.

10 great things about my Mother-in-law
1. She gave birth to my husband and  raised him to be considerate.
2. She honors her husband.
3. She enjoys cooking good food for her family.
4. She is optimistic.
5. She believes that cleanliness IS next to godliness.
6. She gave her son wings to fly.
7. She likes to have fun and is always up for a challenge.
8. She is prepared and on time (unlike me).
9. She appreciates style.
10. She adores my children.

10 great things about being a Mother
1. I am always needed
2. It keeps me humble and daily before God.
3. I get to see pieces of myself in my children (oooh-sometimes that's not so great)
4. I am challenged to be my best for these little people.
5. I get to bake sweet things for my sweet little people AND eat them too!
6. I am reminded daily of the wonder of imagination.
7. I get a glimpse of God's great love for me.
8. I have lost much of my selfish and lazy ways.
9. The joy of seeing my children learn and grow.
10. Helps me appreciate my Mother and mothers everywhere more than ever.

  2. I just read your blog and was humbled by your comments of me as your mother. I love you Heather and part of who I have become is from what I have learned from you. You are a very special young lady. You are the pride of my life. And yes, I do love those grandkids. How precious and special each of them are.

For those of you who may read this let me tell you what my sweet daughter did for me on mother's day. When I got home from work Friday at noon, Heather and the kids had set a beautiful table with white table cloth, white napkins, 2 candles, nice dishes & a center piece which consisted of a miniature rose plant that was for my mother's day. As soon as I got home, Brooklyn requested that I DRESS for our TEA PARTY. She took me to my closet and helped me to pick out a pretty skirt to wear.
Heather had made puffed pastries and had filled them with chicken salad. (Did I mention Heather was a great cook!). We also had fresh strawberries and flavored tea. Then for dessert she had made puffed pastries filled with Key Lime and Hazelnut pie filling. (Oh, did I mention how thoughtful and wonderful my daughter is?) I could not have had a more enjoyable lunch if I had gone to the most expensive restaurant in town.

    I love you Heather,
    MOM

  3. Heather,

I have just read your comments about Mothers and am very touched by your feelings towards me. Being a Mother-In-Law to you has brought me such Love and Joy to my life. You are a Mother-In-Law's dream of a Daughter-In-Law by being such a Wonderful Christian Wife to my Son and a Wonderful Christian Mother to my Grandbabies. My family is my World and I do LOVE to take care of everyone of you. By having you as my Daughter-In-Law, you have allowed me to add "3" special kids to my "Love Of My Life" list and that is Brooklyn, Jake and Taylor Bear. You always make me feel very special by going above and beyond on everything you do for me and I love you for that. God has truely enriched my life by having you in it!

    I love you Heather,

    Debbie
