Well we made a visit to the 29, that's what we're calling the land and the future home for the Fresh New Farmhouse, for now. I think we can do better, but so far nothing else has stuck. Dean's mom and dad discovered early on that we had sand plums at the property. So we all went out this Sunday after church in an effort to pick enough for some canning. Well, someone forgot to tell us they have thorns- big ones! The bushes were not yet quite ready for the picking, but we did get a sackful and we all got to taste. I was not familiar with sand plums and was surprised to learn that they are the size of a grape and surprisingly tasty.
(These photos are not my own)
but aren't they pretty?!
It was hot and sticky and stickery and Poison Oakey, so the kids stayed on the back of Paw-Paw's truck bed while the big people searched.
I think the deer got there before us.
Speaking of deer, we saw lots of tracks on top of the hill. We spotted a few other tracks as well...
